Jazz violinist Didier Lockwood and guitarist Adrien Moignard, a rising figure in the world of “gipsy jazz”, will be paying homage to the legendary Stephane Grapelli, playing swing composed by Grapelli and Django Reinhardt for the quintette “Hot Club de France”.
It is through Grappelli, international jazz icon, that this programme traces the history of this trailblazing musical style with timeless arrangements such as Night and Day, Valse du Passé, Tea for Two, and many other classics.

Paul Lay fait indéniablement partie de la jeune génération du jazz européen. Originaire des Pyrénées-Atlantiques, il est lauréat des plus prestigieux concours internationaux tels que le Concours International Piano-Jazz de Moscou.
Invité régulièrement à la Cinémathèque de Paris, Paul Lay propose cette année un éclairage musical de deux chefs-d’oeuvre cinématographiques – Sherlock Jr, Buster Keaton (1895-1966) et The Emigrant, Charlie Chaplin (1889-1977) – à travers des improvisations et des compositions originales dans lesquelles le genre ‘‘pianiste de ragtime’’ accompagne le film muet.
Une poésie exquise, musicale et visuelle.

Paul Lay is undeniably part of the younger generation of European jazz performers. Originally from the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, he has won awards from the most prestigious international competitions such as the Moscow International Piano-Jazz Competition.
Regularly invited to the Paris Cinematheque, this year Paul Lay offers a musical interpretation of two cinematographic masterpieces – Sherlock Jr featuring Buster Keaton (1895-1966) and The Emigrant, with Charlie Chaplin (1889-1977) – through improvisations and original compositions in which the genre ” ragtime pianist ” accompanies the silent film.
An enchantingly poetic, musical and visual experience.
