The deepest musical inspirations of the trio, Jasmin Toccata, are baroque and oriental. This programme, sometimes spectacular and dazzling, sometimes profound and meditative, abolishes the borders between the two musical worlds.
The lute, theorbo, and harpsicord bond with the soft beat of Persian melodies, and the delicacy of oriental ornamentations are reflected in the precise embellishments of the baroque world. Alternating between works from the great baroque masters (Scarlatti, Purcell, Dowland) and modal compositions of great rhythmic richness, these three musicians overwhelm us with the life they give to a brilliant and sensual toccata, Jasmin perfumed, and strewn with improvisations and energetic rhythms.

A la fois pianiste et compositeur depuis l’âge de cinq ans, il est aussi mécène. Amateur éclairé de Jean-Sebastien Bach, il crée un programme audacieux et inventif qui met en corrélation les transcriptions de Liszt sur le thème des fantaisies et fugues ainsi que les préludes du compositeur français Gabriel Fauré.
Après son passage au Festival en 2016, ce virtuose américain revient cette année pour un de ses rares concerts en France et nous offre un moment privilégié à déguster sans modération.

Kit Armstrong has been a pianist and composer since the age of five and is also a patron of the arts. A sophisticated exponent of Jean-Sebastien Bach, he has now created a daring and inventive program that links Liszt’s arrangements on the theme of fantasies and fugues together with the preludes of French composer Gabriel Fauré. After his performance at the Festival in 2016, this American virtuoso returns this year for one of his rare concerts in France to offer us a privileged experience to enjoy without restraint.
